Henry County Fuller Center for Housing, Inc.

Fuller Center projects are all about empowerment not “giveaway” programs.  The payments which come back to the local community are put into a fund and that money is recycled to build additional homes or complete other home repair projects

The Waldrop Residence, Hampton GA - July, 2012

Driving home one afternoon after picking up her grandson from daycare, Mrs. Waldrop got caught in a violent storm. She was trying to get into the house as fast as she could so they could seek shelter in basement of the house.

While they were huddled safely in the house a  nearby tree fell on the house causing  structural damage to the roof, the front porch to collapse, along with damage to the deck and ceilings.

John & Holly Quinn 2011
A concerned citizen approached the Henry County Fuller Center and explained the condition of the bathroom floor in the home of John Quinn and his wife Holly. Don Dunlap (Board Member) moved into action immediately and got the Quinn family to fill out an application.

Over the years, water from the shower has been leaking unto the flooring which eventually has rotted away. John gets around with a walker and on a power wheelchair. It is difficult for him to maneuver in the space since it is not designed as an ADA Bathroom - but he has been managing.

Scope of Work:
Remove tub, Remove carpet, Install new ADA Toilet Fixture - Remove existing Shower Enclosure, Install new ADA Shower enclosure - Replace damaged flooring in Bathroom, Paint Ramp with non-slip paint,  Sheetrock & Flooring, Add pavers at bottom of ramp. New Hot Water Heater.

Bobby & Anita Simpson - July 2011

The tornadoes touched down and devastated hundreds of lives leaving in  it's ugly trail, damaged structures and debris in its wake.Bobby & Anita Simpson happen to be one of those families who suffered that loss. With no home insurance, they have no choice but to look towards the community for help.

On April 30, a small group from Henry County worked as a team to clear fallen trees from the yard and cover the damaged sections of the roof with tarp, until proper repairs can be done.

Fuller Center for Housing and the Atlanta Fuller Center collaborated and channeled their support through the local Henry County Fuller Center. With volunteers coming from near and far, it took 14 consecutive weekends to restore the damage and move this family back into their home.

"Extreme Makeover"at 185 Old Griffin Road, McDonough (2009)
One of the first projects that the Fuller Center began working on in McDonough belonged to 73 year old Mrs. Lillie Miller. Mrs. Lillie Miller and many more people now have a wonderful, new home, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Henry County Fuller Center For Housing, Inc. volunteers, sponsors and donations.  What a wonderful feeling of satisfaction volunteers, sponsors and donors experience helping, giving back, and paying it forward to those with housing needs.  Random acts of kindness which forever change the lives of the Greater Blessing Box recipients.
